gifted, determined
– who knew intimately,
profoundly,
what to do
with butter,
with an egg,
with a pinch of salt.
When your bloom
began to droop,
skilled fingers
knotted with age,
becoming
suddenly
too old to cook,
did you lament
the nursing home food?
